The leadership challenge (chp 1)

Day1: I woke up at 6am,brushed up and went to school, avoiding those weird stares on the mrt because of my big campbag. It's alr holiday so there weren't many secondary school students on the mrt. I reached school at about 6:45am and went to sit down with huiying, szemin, candy and a couple of girls. We chatted for awhile, while on the other hand checking each others' camp bag comparing the size and quantity. Typical camp girls. Miss janay lim then briefed us about the camp. Me, being the typical me was listening very attentively to every word she was saying. (: ^^

"Well, there is a slight change to the groups" my face lightened, yeahhhh! Will i get to be group up with vanessa, candy and sharon?! My heart sank upon hearing the next few words.

"Groups 1 to 4 will remain but group 5 will be splited up to the 4 groups." What?!?!?!?! I was silently praying that i will be assigned to group 1 with sharon, candy and vanessa. But hell no, karma wasn't on my side. Joey was assigned there. Then next i prayed that i will be assigned to group 3 since mingjie, chua , try and most of the 2-3 people were there. But no, i guess its really my luck. I was assigned to group 4 with kas and a bunch of guys which i didnt know. I sighed. Miss lim then gave us a break while waiting for our bus to arrive. I went to sit with kas and try and we chatted. More of i went there to check out their bags. Kiasu mee. The bus came and we boarded the bus. We as in me, adilah, kas,try and nadine went on board together since we were assigned to the same bus. Groups 1&2, first bus while groups 3&4 second bus. We were chatting all the way until MOE labrador campsite, our 'lovely &sweet home' for the next 5 days.


(FLASHBACK)
Adilah:"Good morning miss huang, can i meet all students attending the tlc camp?" A number of students from my class stood up and walked outside the classroom.
Adilah:"ok, this is a packing list and the groups you've been assigned to. Remember to meet at 7am in your sec 2 camp teeshirt on monday."
I took the paper and glanced. I already saw the list during quiet time. Hell yeah my group looks good.

Group 5: weizhi, jonathan, kasandra, joey, godwin, shazeilla, junxian, denise, zachary, jia wen.
Im soooooooo excited for the camp, and the other part of me was very scared. I hadnt got my 'P' for this month. Who knows if it'll come on the day of camp? Miss lim said that the camp was very very tough and seniors will cry a lot. And then i gotta know the schedules for the camp : high elements, kayaking, and amazing race. Shit, kayaking, water! Yesterday, we had a briefing conducted by daphne, a trainer from the absorbent mind. I told alvina to ask her: what if we have mens? And then daphne answered: your decision. She told us about her experience with another student. The student faced the same problem and Daphne also told her it's her decision. So, the student just went down the water and enjoyed herself very very very much. I felt quite relieved after hearing this.

(back to arrival in the campsite)
"Ok, placed your bags over there and follow me." Lye, our head instructor for the camp and also the boss of the absorbent mind instructed us. Although we set off late, we arrived faster than the other bus. I think the bus driver took a longer route this time so we ended up in the campsite after an hour's drive. We helped Lye and some facilitators (facil) which i later knew were Max (my group's facil), Yuanting, Alvin, and Belinda.

We did some ice-breaking games to know each other better. My NEW group consisted of Huixin, KAS, Nadine, Adilah, Tingen, Felicia, Weizhi, Lecong, Kaiern, Farihin, Benjamin (Ben), Azim, and me. At first, i know most of them except for Weizhi, Lecong and Farihin. Although Weizhi lived near my place and we always take the same train to school, but i never ever ever talked to him. We played ice-breaking games for like an hour or so. For one of the games which i dont know what's the name of the game, the one that we walked round and round in circles and reached a point to call the other team's name, my group lost. About 4-5 of US, Ben,Adilah and i think Lecong?

We did 20 over-head A.K.A. Buddha claps. Forfeits always give me a bad impression since one of the forfeits i had to do i dont know how many squats in front of 60 people ALONE, which i enjoyed very much. -Sense the sacarsm. I cried that time. I don't cry in front of so many people often. Even with my family, i cry in the toilet SILENTLY. ): Ok, so i did the buddha claps and i enjoyed it very much. -No sacarsm.

Later on, we had to give our group a name and settle on it during lunch. It was group 1 A.K.A Kouzners' duty, which means they had to serve the buffet food, clean up the canteen after eating and refill washing water for us campers to wash our utensils.

Soooooooo , we settled on our team name : TGIF which means the great interactive friends ! I know i know, not very original, but it's creative. It was my idea because i was telling Kas about her blog post title "Rolling in the Dee...pavali" was creative then i asked Adilah & her: What's TGIF? They said: Thank god its friday. Then i said: "Wrong, it's today got indian festival!" Because Deepavali just passed a few days before we went for camp so it reminded me of that. They laughedoutloud and it just spread among the group. Soooo, when we had to decide on our group name, we came up with different ideas and they all settled on mine. I was like yay-ay-ay-ay-ay!!!! My decision was considered and taken!!! Lol. (KAS, this reminds me of your video for DeeKosh).

We played more ice-breaking games in the afternoon. One of which was the Domino card game. Yes, just like Domino's pizza, we have Domino card gme. It was a game that requires honesty & integrity. (idk what's the difference between the 2 words but it means the same). We played for 3 rounds and our group won the last round, making us win 40pts !!!!! Yoooooohooooooo!!!!!!! When dinner came, i was getting more nervous & nervous & nervous. Why? Because i have insomnia and im afraid i cant sleep in the night. Night training passed by quickly, it was 9.20pm when kas and 3 other group leaders have to go for panelling. They have to enlist the facils and some teachers about the greatness of our team.

Sooooooo, we, the other girls, went to have a bath and we proceeded to outside the canteen to wait for supper. We waited for 45 mins. I always walking here and there joining different cliques to chat. The most memorable one was with vanessa, me , mj, honghuat, warid, and le cong and BEN? We were talking about dirty stuffs! Lol. Warid was saying that when a guy gets hit in the balls, the pain is ousand times more than a lady giving birth. Then he acted out. All of us laughed. We had to control our laughter because the panelling was still going on and we didnt want to disturb them and get scolded. We kept on talking about balls, condoms and sick stuffs. We ended our chat when hong huat went to open the lid of the buffet tin and said we could eat those croissants? Im not too sure cos i didnt take any.

The leaders came out at arnd 10:50 pm. Kas was crying badly. We later have a group talk and went to bed. The most most ost special thing was then lights out at 11:30 pm but nobody cam to check! I think this is the most wonderful thing in this most wonderful camp. Teachers-in-charge never do attire check and night duty. They gave us a lot of freedom. I feel that we were very very very honoured. I didnt have insomnia that night, actually not at all for the 4 nights! :) I slept on the floor with farhana, adilah, nadine, felicia (which she cant sleep and joined chua in the night) & tingen! The floor was friggin cold every morning!
